The Redskins plan to franchise TE Fred Davis, NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reported.

In his fourth season, Davis had 59 catches for 796 yards and three touchdowns in 12 games. He was suspended for the final four games of the season for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy.

Davis was second on the team in catches and receiving yards. Teams have between Feb. 20 and March 5 to apply the franchise tag.
