The Colts hired Greg Manusky as their new defensive coordinator, according to Fox Sports' Alex Marvez.

The Chargers fired Manusky after just one year with San Diego's defense following the 2011 season. Manusky spent four seasons as the 49ers' defensive coordinator before returning to San Diego, where he had been the linebackers coach from 2002-2006.

Manusky's replacement in San Diego is John Pagano, whose brother Chuck is the Colts' new head coach.

The Raiders reportedly interviewed Manusky for their defensive coordinator position earlier this week.

The Chargers finished 16th in the league in total defense in 2011 after finishing first in 2010. The Colts are coming off a 2-14 season in which they were 25th in the league in defense and 29th against the run. Indianapolis fired Larry Coyer during the season and promoted Mike Murphy. The Colts announced that Murphy retired in January.
