MOBILE, Ala. — The North and South squads held walk-through practices Friday morning as the clubs made their final preparations for Saturday's Senior Bowl.

The North practice included some 11-on-11 work, and the South's offense and defense worked on opposite ends of the field at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Each coaching staff put their side through its paces on special teams, too. All players were accounted for on both squads, per PFW's count.

"We came out here and just went through our pregame routine, make sure we don't run into each other, nobody gets hurt before the game," said Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan, who's coaching the South this week.

Among the important aspects of a walk-through, Shanahan said, was the opportunity to work on special-teams situations and substitutions, the two-minute offense and the first 15-20 plays of the game.

"It's been a good group. Everyday they seem to get confident, more familiar with what you're trying do," Shanahan said of the South squad. "They get a chance to compete on a daily basis against some of the better collegiate players, so everybody (is) very intense, very accountable, and they get to showcase against their talents knowing they have a great opportunity."

Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier, who's coaching the North, also has liked the progress of his club.

"I think they've done a good job," Frazier said. "They really seem like they've been engaged in what we've been trying to do all week long. They understand what's at stake for them. A lot of guys, this is their chance to really make an impression on NFL scouts, especially some of the smaller-school guys. They've had good practices, and now it's a chance to go out and play the game and enjoy it for the fans."

Both clubs practiced inside at the Mobile Convention Center on Thursday because of heavy morning rains. The North, which began practice outside, was particularly inconvenienced and held a truncated practice.   

"We added a couple things today because of yesterday that we wanted to hit that we couldn't hit outdoors, and hopefully it will help out," Frazier said.

Neither Frazier nor Shanahan had picked a starting quarterback as of Friday morning. Shanahan said each South quarterback likely will get 2-3 series to begin the game, with the rotation thereafter to be decided during the game.
