The Rams have hired Brian Schottenheimer as the team's offensive coordinator, PFW correspondent and St. Louis Post-Dispatch writer Jim Thomas reported.

It had been reported last weekend that the Rams would hire Schottenheimer, but then former Raiders coach Hue Jackson became a candidate, as well. It appears that new head coach Jeff Fisher decided to go with Schottenheimer.

Schottenheimer had been the Jets' offensive coordinator since 2006. He decided not to return for the 2012 season. Schottenheimer replaces Josh McDaniels, who left St. Louis to return to the Patriots.

The Rams were 31st in the league in offense this past season, and QB Sam Bradford struggled in his second season. Schottenheimer came under fire in New York, as the Jets offense regressed in 2011.
