The Titans restructured their front office, promoting Mike Reinfeldt from general manager to senior vice president/chief operating officer; Ruston Webster from vice president of personnel to GM; and Lake Dawson from vice president/football operations to vice president of personnel.
While Tennessee made the moves in part to try and protect its assets — Webster and Dawson both have been linked to other vacant GM posts, with Dawson still in play in St. Louis, we hear — it was also to cater to each individual's strengths.
For instance, Reinfeldt was somewhat miscast as GM, said one source on the scene. His new position, formerly held by Steve Underwood, will allow him to work more behind the scenes on a broader scope of the team's affairs.
Meanwhile, Webster, who shares a very similar philosophy to Reinfeldt on team building, is a guy who will be comfortable in the spotlight and dealing with agents, players and the media.
These moves won't change the Titans' approach as consensus builders when targeting players in the draft and free agency, we hear.
