The 49ers, Giants, Ravens and Patriots all advanced last weekend in the NFL playoffs, and a record-setting number of Americans saw them do it.

More fans watched the divisional playoffs then ever before, according to the league, with three games setting ratings records. The two first games — Saints-49ers and Broncos-Patriots — set high marks for Saturday playoff games. San Francisco's last-second victory was watched by 35.6 million viewers on Fox.

The highest-rated game of the weekend was also the highest-rated game in divisional-playoff history, the Giants upset of the Packers on Sunday afternoon. The league reports that 45.1 million fans watched the game on Fox, topping last season's Jets-Patriots game by four percent.

All four divisional playoff games earned higher ratings than the BCS National Championship game played earlier in the week, though that game was aired on cable (ESPN).
