The Bears continue to make progress in the interview process for their general-manager job.

Chargers director of player personnel Jimmy Raye met with the Bears Tuesday after Patriots director of pro personnel Jason Licht started off the series of interviews on Monday. Chiefs director of college scouting Phil Emery and Giants director of college scouting Marc Ross are due up next, and Tim Ruskell, who is serving as the Bears' interim general manager, is also a candidate to replace Jerry Angelo, who was relieved of his duties as general manager on Jan. 3.

Raye joined the Chargers in 1996 and spent four years as a scout and eight as the team's director of college scouting (2000-07). He's considered GM A.J. Smith's right-hand man.
