The Broncos promoted Matt Russell to director of player personnel, the team announced on Tuesday.

Russell was named the team's director of college scouting on April, 30 2009. He was a Butkus Award-winning linebacker at the University of Colorado.

Russell spent seven seasons as an NFL scout with the Eagles and Patriots.

Denver also named Brian Stark their new West Coast scout.
