The Buccaneers received permission to interview Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, according to multiple reports.

Zimmer just finished his fourth season as Cincinnati's defensive coordinator. The Bengals were seventh in the league in total defense and made the playoffs as a wild-card team.

Zimmer was named the Pro Football Weekly/Pro Football Writers Assistant Coach of the Year for the 2009 season. He was the Cowboys' defensive coordinator from 2000-06 and the Falcons' coordinator in 2007.

Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips pulled out of the interviewing process with the Bucs on Thursday evening. The Buccaneers have also reportedly interviewed Mike Sherman, Brad Childress and Marty Schottenheimer.

According to NFL Network's Jason La Canfora, the Buccaneers were also granted permission to interview Panthers offensive coordiantor Rob Chudzinski. In his first season with Carolina, Chudzinski led an offense that saw QB Cam Newton set rookie records for passing and running.
