After winning 6-of-8 games in 2011 as the starting QB in place of an injured Kevin Kolb, has John Skelton done enough to really have a shot at filling the No. 1 role under center in 2012? "I don't think there will be any real open competition like there was in 2007 between Kurt Warner and Matt Leinart," one team insider said. "But Skelton has definitely closed the gap. I think Kolb will enter the offseason as the No. 1, but the team has made it clear Skelton will get a shot after playing so well in the fourth quarter and Kolb never being able to fully grasp the offense." While Skelton has earned his share of supporters, we hear the majority of Cardinals fans think it's too early to really get behind either quarterback. In Skelton's case, his inaccuracy early in games was hard to ignore. "There's a stark difference in how he plays in the first and fourth quarters, especially on his mid-range throws," the insider said.
