Falcons WR Roddy White is back in the Pro Bowl, this time with a little help from his friends. Namely, Calvin Johnson.

The Lions' wide receiver backed out of the Pro Bowl, after missing practice with an Achilles injury in the week leading up to Detroit's playoff matchup with New Orleans.

Johnson is coming off a remarkable season in which he compiled 1,681 yards on 96 receptions, and found the endzone 16 times. He appeared fine on Saturday, torching the Saints for 12 receptions, 211 receiving yards and two touchdowns in Detroit's 45-28 loss to New Orleans, but decided against playing in Honolulu. With more than $17 million coming his way in 2012 and free agency impending in ’13, Johnson has ample reason to play it safe.

White is coming off another fine season, in which he led the NFC in receptions for the second consecutive season, and accumulated 1,296 receiving yards, although he also led the league in drops. This will mark his fourth consecutive Pro Bowl appearance, and he is one of only eight players in NFL history to record at least 1,000 yards and 80 receptions in five consecutive seasons. He was limited to just 52 yards on five receptions in Atlanta's 24-2 loss to New York in the wild-card playoffs.
