The Falcons will be without two of their top defenders this afternoon when they face the Giants in the NFC wild-card game at MetLife Stadium. CB Brent Grimes is inactive because of a knee injury, while LB Stephen Nicholas has a toe injury.
Grimes started 12 games for the team this season and led the team with 14 passes defensed. Nicholas is a strong tackler who the team was hoping would be healthy enough to play.
CB Dominique Franks will start in Grimes' place, and LB Spencer Adkins is in the lineup in place of Nicholas.
The other Falcons inactives are QB John Parker Wilson, C Brett Romberg, OT Kirk Chambers, DE Cliff Matthews and WR Kerry Meier.
There were no surprises or big names being held out for the Giants. The inactives for the NFC East champs are: RB Da'Rel Scott, WR Ramses Barden, T James Brewer, C Jim Cordle, DT Jimmy Kennedy, DE Justin Trattou and LB Mark Herzlich.
