The Giants have not dominated in the trenches like this — on offense and defense — at any point this season. The offensive line has taken a while to get into form, but its performance against the Falcons in the wild-card victory was vintage Giants power football. So was the pressure that the front line provided on defense in the game. Although they had only two sacks, including one on the Falcons' final offensive play, QB Matt Ryan seldom had time to throw comfortably. The line also anchored a very stout performance against the run, holding the Falcons to 64 yards on 21 carries and scaring them into two ill-advised QB sneaks in fourth-and-short situations. Defensively, it wasn't just Jason Pierre-Paul wreaking havoc. Justin Tuck (two), Osi Umenyiora (two), Linval Joseph (one), Chris Canty (one) and Rocky Bernard (one) all had QB hits on Ryan. Bernard had zero sacks during the regular season.
