A shakeup in the Titans' secondary is expected this offseason, with CB Cortland Finnegan and safeties Michael Griffin, Chris Hope and Jordan Babineaux all unrestricted free agents. Whoever is manning the back end of Tennessee's "D" in 2012, however, will do so under the guidance of a new secondary coach.
The Titans on Wednesday informed Marcus Robertson and assistant secondary coach Curtis Fuller that they would not be retained.
Robertson spent 21 seasons with the organization.
We're told this move does not come as a big surprise. It was going to happen last year but the timing simply wasn't right. According to a daily team observer, Robertson's personality did not mesh with the rest of head coach Mike Munchak's staff; he tended to enable his players, we hear.
Word is the position likely won't be filled for a few weeks, but defensive coordinator Jerry Gray, who, this week interviewed for Tampa Bay's head-coaching vacancy, likely would have a big say in the decision if he stays in Tennessee.
