Here is a look at how the Patriots' first-year players performed in the team's Week 17 win over the Bills.
OT Nate Solder (first round, 17th overall) — Solder finished his first regular season with 13 starts and he played in all 16 games. He contributed much more than expected when he was drafted in April. In the season finale, besides starting at right tackle in place of the deactivated Sebastian Vollmer, Solder got 14 snaps as an extra tight end for run plays, according to ESPN Boston.
RB Stevan Ridley (3, 72) — Ridley continued his late-season success, rushing for 81 yards on 15 carries (5.4-yard average) in the win. He added a long of 21 yards. BenJarvus Green-Ellis handled the goal-line carries, totaling two touchdowns.
DB Sterling Moore (undrafted) — Moore had a breakout game at corner, replacing Kyle Arrington in the second half. He had two interceptions, including a pick-six. Moore could get some extra looks in the secondary come playoff time.
Notes — RB Shane Vereen (2, 56) and QB Ryan Mallett (3, 73) were inactive. ... LS Danny Aiken (undrafted) and OT Marcus Cannon (5, 138) both played but did not record any stats.
