Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin announced on Tuesday that FS Ryan Clark will be held out of the team's wild-card playoff game vs. the Broncos for medical reasons.
"I met with Ryan Clark and have informed him I am not going to allow him to play in this game," Tomlin said.
Clark has a sickle cell trait and it is considered a health risk for him to exert himself in Denver's high altitude. In 2007 after playing the Broncos, Clark's spleen and gall bladder had to be removed because of his condition. He has not played in either of the two games the Steelers played in Denver since then, a 2009 regular-season matchup and a 2010 preseason game.
Tomlin also announced that OLG Doug Legursky and OLB LaMarr Woodley would be "good to go" vs. the Broncos.
