The Jaguars have requested permission to interview Falcons offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey for their vacant head-coaching position, NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reported.

Mularkey is in his fourth season as the Falcons' offensive coordinator. He spent two seasons as the head coach of the Bills from 2004-05.

Mel Tucker took over as the Jaguars' interim head coach on Nov. 29 after the team fired Jack Del Rio.

The way we see it

Mularkey interviewed for head-coaching jobs last season as well, and his success with Falcons QB Matt Ryan is likely appealing to Jaguars GM Gene Smith. Jacksonville used its top pick in last year's draft on QB Blaine Gabbert.
