The Saints will be without rookie RB Mark Ingram for the playoffs. The first-round pick will have season-ending surgery on his toe this week.
Fox Sports' Jay Glazer first reported the news and a league source confirmed to PFW correspondent and New Orleans Times-Picayune writer Mike Triplett that Ingram will have season-ending surgery.
Ingram suffered a set back this past week and has not played since Week 13. He had 122 carries for 474 yards this season in 10 games and four starts. He had five rushing touchdowns.
The way we see it
Ingram may have led the team with carries heading into Sunday, but there is plenty of depth at running back to make up for his loss. Pierre Thomas, Darren Sproles and Chris Ivory will all share the load.
