Vikings CB Benny Sapp was cited for misdemeanor assault on Friday, following an altercation at Children's Hospital in Minneapolis. He was not arrested.
Sapp was trying to drop off his 11-year old son, who was meeting someone at the hospital, when he drove past a security officer who was standing in front of him. The cornerback was handcuffed and questioned by authorities. He was ticketed for fifth-degree assault and careless driving.
"Mr. Sapp pushed one of the security officers and drove his vehicle toward the exit of the ramp, where there was another confrontation with a security officer standing in front of the vehicle," Minneapolis police Sgt. William Palmer told the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
Sapp has played in six games for the Vikings this season and has 23 tackles and three passes defensed.
