Aside from ninth-year veteran RCB Charles Tillman, who will finish this season with his first career Pro Bowl trip, the Bears are struggling to find stability in the secondary, and there could be significant roster turnover in that area this offseason.
Rookie Chris Conte was placed on injured reserve with a foot sprain after Week 15. He figures to be the starting free safety in 2012, though, and D.J. Moore, who missed Weeks 11-13 with an ankle sprain, should return as the nickel back.
The biggest changes could come at left corner. The team isn't satisfied with either of its top two players at the position. Tim Jennings and Zack Bowman have each been demoted in the past week. They will both be unrestricted free agents. S Major Wright has yet to prove that he's a dependable starter, and S Brandon Meriweather, who signed a one-year deal before the season, isn't expected back. Two key backups — CB Corey Graham, who made the Pro Bowl as the NFC's special-teams player, and S Craig Steltz — are headed for unrestricted free agency, but the Bears are interested in re-signing them.
