Two of the Jets' veterans and locker-room leaders are on injured reserve and set to become free agents in the offseason. OLB Bryan Thomas and S Jim Leonhard have expiring contracts and cannot earn extra dollars on the field, as both suffered season-ending injuries.

The way we hear it, the team likes both players but has to be in wait-and-see mode when it comes to their health. One of the issues with the Jets this year, we hear, has been a lack of chemistry in the locker room, something the pair of veterans could have helped with.

Thomas will be 33 at the start of next season, and the team has young talent at the LB position that has gotten opportunities this season, such as Jamaal Westerman and Garrett McIntyre. The Jets called up LB Ricky Sapp from the practice squad this week.

Leonhard, 29, is coming off a second injury to the same leg, forcing him to end back-to-back seasons on I.R. His replacement, Brodney Pool, is also set to be a free agent.
