The Cowboys are likely to undergo changes in the offseason on the defensive side. CB Terence Newman, despite a brief revival around midseason, will not be back at the $6 million salary he is due in 2012. There's a chance he and the club could redo the deal, but don't be shocked if he's waived as a cap casualty. Another starter who might not return is ILB Bradie James. Although he continues to make tackles, James isn't the playmaker he once was. The club drafted Bruce Carter in Round Two, and though he has yet to show he can handle starting duty, the Cowboys still could opt to go young with a slight leap of faith. There are salary-cap issues that must be addressed, and ridding themselves of Newman and James would alleviate the situation somewhat, allowing the team to re-sign OLB Anthony Spencer, if it chooses, and also make a small splash to address needs in free agency.
