Some well-known players were fined this week for breaking NFL rules regarding the clothes they're allowed to wear.

Patriots WR Wes Welker was fined $10,000 for wearing a hat during a postgame interview. The hat had the logo of a company that does not have a promotional deal with the league, the cause of the fine.

Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch got the same $10,000 fine for wearing an unauthorized pair of shoes in Week 16. His Nike cleats had a picture of Skittles on it, breaking the league's uniform code. It is the second time Lynch has been fined this season for breaking the uniform rules.

Other fines handed out this week for uniform violations went to Saints RB Pierre Thomas ($7,500 for attempting to tie a ribbon around the football after scoring a TD) and Saints WR Lance Moore ($5,000 for wearing green and red tape on his all-black socks).

There were also a number of fines assessed for illegal play on the field.

Cardinals DT Darnell Dockett received a $30,000 fine for two violations last Saturday vs. the Bengals. He was docked $15,000 for hitting QB Andy Dalton below the knees and another $15,000 for a horse-collar tackle on RB Bernard Scott.

Falcons LB Curtis Lofton, Redskins S Reed Doughty, Texans DE J.J. Watt and Seahawks CB Richard Sherman also were each fined $15,000 for illegal hits.
