The Bears announced on Tuesday that they have ruled out QB Jay Cutler and RB Matt Forté for the Week 17 game vs. the Vikings, placing both on injured reserve.
Cutler, who broke his right thumb in the team's Week 11 win over the Chargers, is still recovering from surgery. He was replaced at first in the lineup by Caleb Hanie for four games before Josh McCown started in his place last Sunday vs. the Packers. The team is 0-5 since Cutler went out.
Forté suffered a Grade 2 MCL sprain in Week 13 vs. the Chiefs and has been rehabbing his knee ever since. He was expected to miss just two to four weeks, but with the Bears eliminated from the playoffs, it made little sense for him to return to the field in meaningless action.
The team did not announce any corresponding moves to fill the available roster spots.
