The Patriots released S Ross Ventrone from the active roster and DL Cedric McKinley from the practice squad on Monday.

Ventrone has spent time on the practice squad and 53-man roster all season and has played in eight games. He recorded one tackle in Sunday's win over the Dolphins. It's likely that Ventrone will re-join the practice squad after clearing waivers.

McKinley joined the practice squad on Dec. 20.
