Saints QB Drew Breese became the NFL's record holder for most passing yards in a season on Monday night when he broke Dan Marino's mark of 5,084 yards set in 1984.

Brees threw a nine-yard touchdown pass to RB Darren Sproles late in the fourth quarter to break the record on "Monday Night Football" against the Falcons. He finished the game with 307 passing yards. Brees enters Week 17 with 5,087 passing yards.

The Week 16 performance was Brees' 12th 300-yard passing game this season. He also has thrown a touchdown pass in 42 consecutive games, five shy of Johnny Unitas' record.

Patriots QB Tom Brady has thrown for 4,897 yards this season and also could pass Marino's mark next week.
