The Vikings' Chad Greenway said it best last week when he said — paraphrasing here — that it was less a matter of the team's effort and more of how the team just lacks talent overall, top to bottom.
That could be an issue here vs. a Redskins team that has far more offensive confidence (despite losing a number of starters in recent weeks) than at almost any time during the Mike Shanahan era in D.C.
The Vikings' offense has been sporadic as Christian Ponder has regressed and is repeating mistakes. The coaches have not done a great job of developing game plans to benefit him, and the lack of playmakers outside of Adrian Peterson and Percy Harvin is telling.
Defensively, the Vikings have not been good vs. the pass (zero interceptions in past nine games) or the run (the Saints ran it 38 times effectively) and have an identity crisis now as a primarily zone team that struggles to execute its zone schemes.
Look for big games from Santana Moss and Roy Helu in a Redskins home win.
Prediction: Redskins 24, Vikings 14
