Colts vice chairman Bill Polian said on Sunday following the team's Week 15 victory that QB Peyton Manning will not play in the final two games of the 2011 season.

Speaking to reporters, Polian said Manning has been practicing with C Jeff Saturday and RB Joseph Addai. However, as he rehabs from offseason neck surgery, the team feels it would be best if Manning didn't suit up against the Texans in Week 16 or the Jaguars in the final game of the season.

On Tuesday, head coach Jim Caldwell told reporters that Manning will not participate in the team's practices the rest of the season. He said Manning will continue throwing the ball, but he did not want to take repetitions away from Dan Orlovsky or Curtis Painter.

Manning had started 208 consecutive Colts games prior to the season opener.
