Redskins SS LaRon Landry will go on injured reserve because of an Achilles injury, the team announced on Thursday.
Landry has been playing with the injury for much of the past two seasons. He started nine games in 2010 and only eight games this year because of soreness in his leg. The safety also suffered a groin injury earlier in the season, which slowed his recovery time. Landry had 48 tackles and 1½ sacks this season.
The team will start rookie DeJon Gomes in Landry's place over the final three weeks of the season, defensive coordinator Jim Haslett announced on Thursday. The fifth-round pick has 24 tackles on the season.
