The Redskins placed S LaRon Landry on injured reserve with a painful Achilles tendon. The question now is whether his career with the team is over. He could be due for offseason foot surgery, head coach Mike Shanahan said, and Landry is an impending free agent. One could view the fact that the Redskins are placing Landry on I.R. as a sign they don't want to do further damage and that they would be interested in his return. But it likely won't be at big money. They already have committed five years and $26 million to Oshiomogho Atogwe and likely would have some hesitancy doling out similar cash to Landry, who has been restricted to 17 games the past two seasons because of injuries. His physical style certainly plays a factor in how banged up he has been, although he's an exceptional athlete. Look for the Redskins to play it by ear and not rush to a decision before Landry decides his course on surgery.
