Here is a look at how the Patriots' first-year players performed in the team's Week 14 win over the Redskins.

OT Nate Solder (first round, 17th overall) — Solder got his 10th start of the season and has played in all 13 games, which is pretty impressive considering he was drafted as a developmental prospect. With Sebastian Vollmer struggling to stay healthy, Solder has answered the call, and he held fellow rookie Ryan Kerrigan without a sack Sunday.

OT Marcus Cannon (5, 138) — When the Patriots wanted to use three tackles to run the football, Cannon came in and played right tackle, with Solder serving as a blocking tight end.

Notes — RB Shane Vereen (2, 56) and QB Ryan Mallett (3, 73) were both inactive. Vereen is battling a hamstring injury. ... RB Stevan Ridley (3, 72) was active but did not have any carries. ... LS Danny Aiken (undrafted) remained perfect on his snaps. ... The team cut DB Sterling Moore (undrafted) on Saturday and signed DB Malcolm Williams (7, 219) to the active roster. Williams saw time on special teams in the win.
