Rookie third-round pick Chris Conte made his eight-straight start at free safety Sunday, but his most notable contribution wasn't a positive one. He and CB Zack Bowman were out of position on the Broncos' lone touchdown of the game, when WR Demaryius Thomas was wide open in the corner of the endzone.

It looked like Bowman had expected Conte to help in coverage, but both of them bit on a fake by Tim Tebow, who stepped up as if he was going to run before making the 10-yard pass to Thomas for the TD, and neither player was close to Thomas.

It was a better day for DT Stephen Paea, a second-round pick, who made his biggest contribution since Week Six, when he was credited with sacking then-Vikings QB Donovan McNabb a safety. Paea was credited with sacking Tebow twice Sunday.

On special teams, rookie LBs Jabara Williams and Dom DeCicco stood out. Each of them were credited with two special-teams tackles in statistics kept by the team. DeCicco is second on the team in special-teams tackles with 17.

The Bears demoted one rookie, activating journeyman backup QB Josh McCown ahead of fifth-round pick Nathan Enderle, who was inactive after serving as the top backup to Caleb Hanie in each of the previous two games.
