The Cowboys will reportedly work out and eventually sign RB Sammy Morris as a backup to Felix Jones after losing rookie DeMarco Murray to a fractured ankle.
ESPN Dallas reported that the Cowboys will bring Morris in for a workout on Tuesday and plan to sign him.
An 11-year veteran, Morris is a free agent and had a workout with the Chiefs earlier this season. Morris played in all 16 games last season for New England and rushed for 56 yards. He rushed for 727 yards with the Patriots in 2008.
Murray suffered the ankle injury in the first half of Sunday night's loss to the Giants, and Jones is the only other back on the team's active roster. Murray rushed for 897 yards this season.
