The Patriots have brought back DE Eric Moore and placed second-year DE-OLB Jermaine Cunningham on injured reserve.
Moore signed with the Patriots last December and played in the final four games, starting in three of them and recording two sacks. Moore was released in September.
Cunningham, a second-round pick in the 2010 draft, started 11 games as a rookie and recorded 34 tackles. This season, Cunningham has been a reserve. He has one tackle in nine games. Cunningham was listed as doubtful for this Sunday's game with a hamstring injury.
The Patriots also announced the release of rookie DB Sterling Moore and they promoted seventh-round DB Malcolm Williams from the practice squad. Moore had started three games at safety, but it appears Patrick Chung will return from injury. Williams will likely contribute on special teams.
The way we see it
It had been rumored on Friday night that rookie Markell Carter would get called up from the practice squad, but Bill Belichick appears more comfortable with Eric Moore, who provided a spark to the pass rush late last season. Look for him to be involved in sub packages coming off the edge.
