The Raiders' emphasis on downfield throws has made TE Kevin Boss, one of their top offseason acquisitions, essentially useless in their offense. The former Giant has just 17 receptions on the year, as QB Carson Palmer looks for several other targets ahead of the tight end. We hear that Boss' troubles as a blocker has taken him off the field, and the team opts to give Brandon Myers more playing time because of his ability to assist both the running and passing games. With the Raiders down some receivers because of injuries, it would seem inevitable that Boss would become more involved in the attack. However, according to a source, head coach Hue Jackson wants rookie David Ausberry to see more playing time. With the ability to play both wide receiver and tight end, Ausberry is seen as a long-term project and Boss' eventual replacement.
