The Bills were left scrambling when C Eric Wood, PFW's Midseason All-Pro center, suffered a season-ending ACL injury. They first tried Andy Levitre, a left guard who had been playing left tackle because of injuries, and that experiment went awry when Levitre struggled with the shotgun snaps in a loss to the Dolphins.

We had heard from one source before the Dolphins game that ORG Kraig Urbik might fit better taking Wood's place at center and as the leader of the unit. After the Week 11 loss, Chan Gailey made the move and Urbik has started the last two games at center.

At 6-5, 329 pounds, Urbik is bigger than Levitre and more importantly has been very consistent with his shotgun snaps. Urbik struggled in the team's preseason opener but has improved throughout the season and is now showing his versatility. "I never had done it before last year, but now I'm really, really comfortable in there," Urbik told the Bills' website. This also allows Levitre to stay at his natural position at left guard with OLTs Chris Hairston and Demetrius Bell healthy. And there isn't much of a drop-off at Urbik's former position with Chad Rinehart taking over at right guard.
