Vikings OG Anthony Herrera has been selected as the 2011 Ed Block Courage Award recipient by his teammates.
The Ed Block Courage Awards annually honors one player from every NFL team who exemplifies commitment to the principles of sportsmanship and courage. Recipients are selected by a vote of their teammates to recognize both on and off the field extra efforts and their ability to overcome great adversity, whether it be personal or professional.
Herrera battled back from offseason knee and elbow surgery to return to the starting lineup despite this season missing the final six games of 2010 following his knee injury.
Herrera has started 66-of-76 career games entering this weekend's game at Detroit and has started the three career playoff games in which he has played.
The Ed Block Courage Award is named in honor of Ed Block, the longtime head athletic trainer of the Baltimore Colts.
