Hopes were high last season for Dolphins 2010 third-round OG John Jerry. He started 10 games as a rookie but struggled, especially in run blocking. He could not win a starting spot this season, as the team moved Vernon Carey to guard, but Jerry remained with the squad as a top reserve.

In Week 13, Jerry got the start at right guard over veteran Nate Garner when Carey was out with injury and impressed Tony Sparano. "He did some really good things," Sparano said. "The one thing that John does very well is for a big guy he can move his feet really well and he has power." Some were surprised Jerry got the start over Garner, but Sparano said that Jerry is "just more of a natural guard."

The way we hear it, Jerry has shown his commitment by putting in extra work after practice. One daily team observer said Jerry is a different player than he was in training camp, but still has room for improvement before he can factor into the starting rotation next season.
