Panthers QB Cam Newton, Seahawks LB David Hawthorne and Packers P Tim Masthay were named NFC Players of the Week for Week 13.
Newton threw for 204 yards and one touchdown as well as running for 54 yards and three touchdowns in the Panthers' convincing 38-19 win over the Buccaneers Sunday. With the three rushing TDs, Newton leads the league in rushing TDs and set the rookie QB record for rushing TDs in a single season, breaking Steve Grogan's record. This is his first player of the week award.
Hawthorne had six tackles and a 77-yard interception return for a touchdown in the Seahawks' 31-14 win over the Eagles. His interception sealed the win for Seattle, ending an Eagles drive that could have brought the game to within one score. This is Hawthorne's first player of the week award.
Masthay had four of his five punts land inside the 15 in the Packers' 38-35 win over the Giants. He had a net average of 44.2 yards and the Giants had zero punt-return yards. This is Masthay's second career player of the week award.
