An MRI confirmed Matt Forté suffered a Grade 2 MCL sprain in the Bears' loss to the Chiefs on Sunday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. It also revealed he did not suffer any damage to his ACL.

The estimated timetable for his return is said to be 2-6 weeks.

Forté injured his knee in the first quarter of the game against Kansas City after he banged it against LB Derrick Johnson's helmet at the end of a run.

The way we see it

This is potentially a very big blow to a Bears offense that is already without QB Jay Cutler and coming off back-to-back losses heading into a Week 14 meeting with the Broncos. Marion Barber and Kahlil Bell will share the rushing duties if Forté is inactive.

Forté played through an MCL sprain for most of the 2009 season, showing tremendous toughness, but he averaged a career-low 3.6 yards per carry.
