Bears QB Jay Cutler held his first press conference since the news of his broken thumb spread Nov. 20 and said during the media session Wednesday at Halas Hall that he's not sure when he'll throw another pass.
Head coach Lovie Smith has expressed optimism that Cutler would be back by the end of the regular season when he first discussed Cutler's injury on Nov. 21, but Cutler said he "could be done for the season."
"I don't like this," Cutler said of sitting out. "I don't like coming to meetings. I don't like watching practice. I don't like any of this. It's not what I signed up for, it's not anything I've been a part of. It's definitely hard on me. The sooner I can get back out there, the better."
Cutler is rehabbing the thumb — three screws and two pins were inserted into it during surgery — and he said he expects to lose some flexibility in the thumb.
He also addressed off-the-field news, confirming that he and Kristin Cavallari are engaged again.
Cavallari, a reality TV star, made the announcement on Twitter Wednesday and Cutler said they have not yet set a wedding date when asked about it during his press conference.
Cutler broke off their engagement before they were to marry last summer.
