After Matt Leinart was placed on injured reserve, on Tuesday the Texans signed QB Jake Delhomme to provide insurance behind rookie QB T.J. Yates. PFW correspondent John McClain of the Houston Chronicle first reported the news.
Delhomme beat out fellow veteran QB Jeff Garcia for the roster spot. The 36-year old QB will likely be the team's third-stringer, behind Yates and Kellen Clemens, the latter of whom was signed last week following the season-ending injury to Matt Schaub.
Last season with the Browns, Delhomme played in five games, throwing two touchdowns and seven interceptions.
