The Lions placed P Ryan Donahue on injured reserve Tuesday and signed S Ricardo Silva to the active roster.
Donahue suffered a right quad injury in practice earlier this season. In eight games, the rookie had a net punting average of 35.6 yards.
Ben Graham, who has punted the last two games for Detroit, will remain the punter.
Silva is an undrafted rookie out of Hampton.
