Texans QB Matt Leinart suffered a shoulder injury late in the first half of the team's Week 12 game vs. Jacksonville and will not return.

Making his first start of the season filling in for the injured Matt Schaub, Leinart was hit by Jaguars DE Jeremy Mincey while making a throw in the second quarter. He was replaced in the lineup by rookie T.J. Yates.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Texans doctors didn't even examine Leinart on the sideline following the injury, leading the newspaper to speculate that the QB suffered a separation of some kind. Pro Football Talk reports that the team fears he may have a broken collarbone, which would likely end his season. Leinart had a broken collarbone in 2007 while with the Cardinals.

Yates has never played in an NFL game before. TE Owen Daniels is the emergency third quarterback.
