The Vikings announced Saturday that they have downgraded RB Adrian Peterson's status for Sunday's game against the Falcons to out.
Peterson suffered a high ankle sprain in the second quarter of the team's Week 11 loss to the Raiders and was carted off the sideline. Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said Monday that Peterson had suffered some ligament damage and that Friday would be an important day for his Week 12 status.
Peterson, who is sixth in the league in rushing with 872 yards, did not participate in Friday's practice.
Toby Gerhart is slated to start and Frazier said that Lorenzo Booker could see time at running back. WR Percy Harvin also will get some carries.
The way we see it
This is no surprise, as it was expected that Peterson would need some time off after suffering ligament damage to his ankle.
