Eagles CB Nnamdi Asomugha's has a hyperextended knee, quelling fears that he suffered a more serious injury during Thursday's practice, according to Reuben Frank of CSNPhilly.com.

Asomugha had to be carted off the practice field during the Eagles' Thanksgiving Day practice. There was fear that the injury could potentially be season-ending. His status for Sunday's game against the Patriots is unknown.

Asomugha, the Eagles' top offseason signing during their summer spending spree, has 24 tackles and three interceptions this season.

The way we see it

Even though his play has disappointed up to this point, the Eagles can ill afford to lose Asomugha with Tom Brady and the explosive Patriots passing game visiting Lincoln Financial Field Sunday.

If the Eagles want to make a late playoff push, they'll need Asomugha to be healthy and play at the high level he showed with the Raiders.
