The Vikings' veterans all but have admitted the team is toast for this season. They know that at 2-8, there will be no playoffs. But there is a lot at stake: There is a high probability that the 2012 Vikings will look vastly different from the '11 version. Rumors already have rippled through the team that had CB Antoine Winfield not been hurt, he might have been dealt at the trade deadline. Interestingly, now it appears that Winfield could be back even though he's on injured reserve and will be 35 next season. Still a number of other veterans hang in the balance, either as pending free agents or players with high cap numbers who could be cut, including E.J. Henderson, Visanthe Shiancoe, Jim Kleinsasser, Kevin Williams and Steve Hutchinson. Henderson, Kleinsasser and Shiancoe are pending free agents; Williams, Hutchinson and Winfield all are due bigger salaries. Williams and Hutchinson have a chance to show the team they deserve to stick around longer with some strong play down the stretch.
