The Texans have placed QB Matt Schaub on injured reserve and signed Kellen Clemens to be a backup to new starter Matt Leinart.
Schaub suffered a foot injury in Week 10 against the Buccaneers and will miss the remainder of the season. Leinart, who last started a game in 2009 while with the Cardinals, takes over a Texans team looking to clinch their first playoff berth in franchise history.
Clemens is likely to start as Houston's third-string quarterback until he becomes acclimated with his teammates and comfortable with the playbook, and then will be elevated to the No. 2 job ahead of rookie T.J. Yates.
