There is suddenly a new quarterback on the market, and he may be an attractive option to several teams looking for a late-season push to the playoffs.

The Broncos waived QB Kyle Orton, who started five games this season before being replaced in the lineup by Tim Tebow. Broncos VP of football operations John Elway said the move was made for a variety of reasons.

"We just thought it was the best for the Broncos at this time as well as gives Kyle an opportunity to catch on with another team," Elway said in a radio show on the team's website. "We will go into evaluations this offseason not only with Tim, but with the whole football team."

Orton is now on waivers, and teams will have a chance to place a claim on him, starting with the Colts and going on from worst-to-best record. His new team will have to pay the remainder of his salary for this season; Orton is a free agent after the season ends.

The way we see it

There are several teams looking for quarterbacks because of starters getting hurt, including the Broncos' AFC West rival Chiefs and Orton's former team, the Bears. Then again, he may not make it to either of those clubs, as the Colts, or another team at the bottom of the standings, may place the first claim on him.
