The Bears announced Tuesday that they have signed LS-DE Jake Laptad to a three-year contract.
Laptad, an undrafted rookie from Kansas, will replace Patrick Mannelly as the Bears' long snapper. Mannelly was placed on injured reserve Monday after tearing an ACL in the Bears' win over the Chargers.
Laptad spent the preseason with the Bears and served as the long snapper in the team's final tune-up for the regular season against the Cleveland Browns. He also spent two weeks on the team's practice squad in October.
The Bears also announced they have signed undrafted rookie OT Josh Davis and CB Joshua Moore, a fifth-round pick by the team in 2010, to their practice squad.
There is still one spot open on the Bears' 53-man roster and it could be filled by a veteran quarterback to back up Caleb Hanie while Jay Cutler is sidelined by a broken thumb.
